Help:When to place technical requests in "Administrator needed"

Ask for administrator help when an editing task requires a permission your account lacks. A template saying that an administrator is needed does not submit a request or perform the action.

Give a specific request

Contact a local administrator through their user talk page. Link the exact page and explain the intended result, relevant discussion and reason normal editing is insufficient. For page protection use Project:Requests for page protection. For disputed moves use Project:Requested moves.

Examples

An occupied move target, a protected template or a restoration request may need an administrator's review. Check Help:Moving pages, Project:Protection policy and Project:Deletion review as appropriate. Do not ask for deletion merely to avoid discussing a contested move.

Limits

Do not assume that Wikipedia's technical-request queues or Fandom's support staff operate here. Follow the local request route and allow the response time required by Project:User Conduct Rules. Never include passwords, tokens or private account details in a public request.
