Help:Interwiki linking

An interwiki prefix is a configured shortcut to another wiki. Its destination depends on this site's interwiki configuration, not just the visible label.

Use ordinary local page links for local articles, policies and help. Use an explicit external URL when citing another site if its destination would otherwise be unclear. Follow Project:External links and Project:Citing sources. A source citation is different from sending readers off-site to edit, sign in or resolve a local policy question.

Check before using a prefix

Preview the link and inspect its destination. An imported prefix may still lead to Fandom, Wikipedia or another source site. Do not assume that an English or Russian language code identifies a local translated page. See Help:Interlanguage links for language navigation.

Replace a policy or help link with the corresponding local page when one exists. Preserve genuine provenance and licence references for imported material. If a prefix itself needs changing, ask an administrator; changing one article cannot redefine the site's interwiki table.
