External links provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Purpose
External links should provide a useful primary source, supporting evidence or a genuinely relevant resource. Keep ordinary wiki navigation local. Do not send readers to another wiki's policy, login, editing or reporting workflow as though it were this wiki's own service.
Link responsibly
Use descriptive labels and link directly to the relevant material. Avoid link shorteners, tracking parameters and promotional duplication. An external link is not an endorsement, and an off-site copy of this wiki is not independent evidence. Where possible, retain enough citation detail to identify a source if its URL later changes.
Missing local content
A redlink can identify work still to be done. Create an accurate local page or a meaningful local redirect rather than hiding a missing topic behind an unrelated destination.
