Files for discussion provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.

Identify the file and issue

Use the file's discussion page to explain a proposed removal, replacement or change to its description. Check whether the issue is quality, duplication, an inaccurate description, missing source information or a genuine rights concern. Link the exact file and pages using it.

Preserve useful media

A renamed or higher-quality replacement should not leave broken article references. Correct descriptions and source details where evidence permits. Do not overwrite a different subject under an existing filename. Before deletion, an administrator should review uses, history and any discussion.

Rights concerns

Record the actual creator, source and applicable terms. An imported licence tag is not proof of permission. Do not assume Wikimedia Commons accepts the file, or that moving it there resolves a local rights issue. See Project:Image use policy, Project:Copyrights and Project:Deletion policy.

Notices and discussion records

Use {{Ffd}} on the affected page to identify the active local discussion. Supply discussion=Talk:Page title#Section, or the appropriate namespace talk page, when the discussion is in a particular section. Notify the creator and affected maintainers with a neutral message. A notice does not decide the outcome or start an automatic deletion countdown.

Record the outcome and reasons on the same talk page, then remove the active notice. Preserve useful history and attribution when merging or replacing content. Disputed deletion or restoration can be raised through Project:Deletion review.
