The old price was too high for what it does and the new price is way too low.
I can only hope that they will rectify this by reducing the government founding on these ships and then get them to somewhere around 12-15 mil. which should have been the price from the start - just high enough so that people will have to actually spend some time in a lower ship, while not making it an unreasonable grind.
Since the boutny update I already made 8 mill on just one weekend playing on and off for maybe 10-12 hours in my cobra, I am now a proud Vulture owner with some spare change :D
