Absolutely terrible as NPC. I took one of these on (an Elite NPC) with a Python after I got surprised - I submitted to an interdiction without realise what it was. Got terrifed, immediately tried to escape, thinking I'd get my ass kicked. But got mass locked and turned around to at least give it a fight.
No contest whatsoever. It just sat there like a brick while I pounded it from point blank. Once or twice it boosted away and was able to get guns on me again, but its firepower isn't that scary without a huge hardpoint and with chaff, so I easily survived the volley of plasma to get back in close hammering it again.
Only difference between it and a Type-9 as an NPC was that I had to use more ammo. Ludicrously easy - I hope a CMDR would be more of a challenge in one.
