I just tested the 'High Maneuverability Zone' theory with upgraded thrusters and going from 4D to 4A thrusters made no appreciable difference to the zone on my Cobra. I think if the optimal mass for your thrusters are rated lower than your current mass, then upgrading them can make a big change, other than that, doesn't look like there's any difference based on my testing. I have also performed similar testing with my Lakon Type 6 with the same results.
