Visually, we're seriously lacking in variety of crashed ships, and hopefully it's something Frontier eventually get to work on.
Different sizes and ship types would have different cargo/data etc, and there's the potential for more than just salvaging cargo, like for example rescuing the passengers of a crashed Dolphin/Orca/Beluga by cutting a hole in the ship with a special SRV weapon or some kind of limpets to make a safe exit for the passengers and to the nearest station or settlement in your ship.
