Having more bins is very useful, I upgraded to 4 bins on my Adder and it helps a lot with not having to discard partially refined items, eg rarer stuff such as platinum/gold etc. Many rocks give two items so you can refine both.

If I was doing mining again I would get the largest no. of bins I could to save wasting ore.
