They are a projectile weapon. The time-to-target is quick but it's still there. They also take some time to fire - imagine it's realoaded every time you press fire and not after you fired a shot. The slugs, besides doing lots of damage, spin out the target (depends on it's mass). 7 shots send an Anacona into an uncotrolled spin. 1 of them does the same for a Sidewinder.
