In a nutshell:
Let's say you are the proud pilot of a cargo Anaconda and want to finally do some serious combat. For that you trash your Aisling Duval membership in favor of joining Felicia Winters so you can put in 2 Pulse Disruptors in the medium hardpoints (these work wonders against shields).
But after you join Felicia Winters, you still can still replace your old Prismatic Shield Generator for a Class 7 one, which is the largest you can fit on the Anaconda (Only the Heavy Type-9 Heavy is large enough to fit Class 8 shields)
But let's say, later on upon the release of the new ships in 1.5 you get yourself the much-hyped federal corvette . You won't be able to fit prismatic shields on that ship unless you leave Felicia Winters and stay with Aisling Duval for at least 4 weeks.
