There IS a negative, it's that you can't use the cargo scoop. But then again, who does that besides explorers picking up cyrostations and what not for spare change? so it's a relatively small negative. And as to what a pirate will do? yes they may try to blast your cargo hatch, which you can just turn away then, and then they kill you. well that's a lose lose situation since you're dead and he now has a bounty and got no reward from it
