Why *not* make her death Canon?
Elite Dangerous is a game that supposedly prides itself on having a dynamic galaxy where the players actions can affect the story... And where everybody has complete freedom to do whatever they want.
There's literally no reason to give a character physical presence within the game if it isn't possible to kill them, and scenarios like could this lend themselves to probably the most fun and dynamic gameplay the game will ever have, with groups of players role playing as assassins, and others could opt to act as defenders trying to stop any potential assassins... Y'know, something that actually affects the story and can be decided through actual player-player interaction?
