Also, the description doesn't say it's the Imperial counterpart to the corvette. It says it's the *Imperial Navy's* counterpart - *huge* difference. A trade ship would never be referred to in this fashion, a warship is meant for war.
"The Imperial Cutter fulfils a similar role as the corvette for the Imperial Navy."
Clearly it states the cutter is of the same frigate-like class as the corvette in the Empire's military.
Later in the description it goes on to directly relate the cutter as an "Imperial warship":
"As with other Imperial warships the cutter is also used for projecting soft power, via diplomatic missions and support for friendly powers."
Regardless of what has been said on the streams (which are often later proven incorrect might I add) unless this official description is changed in the official release, the cutter is technically by all means classed as a combat warship with multipurpose transport capabilities.
