I was a little worried about the hardpoints too, but I finally got my Clipper today, and they actually have a great firing arc with gimbaled weapons. If you're looking to use fixed, it might not be for you, but so far I'm in love with that ship. Assuming this ship ever makes it into the game, it might be worth considering.
