I don't mind making money for the sole goal of making money. You will always need more money as the game expand. Having a end-game trading ship could help you doing more and more money if you ever get tired of fighting, cumulating cash in prevision of expansion.
Think about Panther Clipper ! It will be a more slowly et far more bigger trading ship that the Cutter, supposely carrying more than 1000t of cargo !
