Keep the asp as it's a fantastic explorer that can trade and fight. Ranking in the empire is simple. Pick 3 empire systems and trade between them. Within 5 hours you'll be offered enough missions to rank to baron. Try Jeterait (might be jeteriat) faust 68 area. Faust 68 has a nice bonus of having very good kit for the new ship ;)
