Python is always a safe way to go, but I can assure you, it is nowhere near Clipper in terms of handling and surely not that much fun to fly. The things you can do with the Clipper even with FA ON you will never be able to do with Python, as it feels and it IS way more sluggish (not to speak of Clipper's speed... even with plenty of heavy equipment installed still about 430 m/s).
While I love the firepower of my Python it is still way more fun to cruise around in the Clipper. For me, its agility makes up for some other flaws, like hardpoint placement, size and weaker shields.
I guess, in the end it all depends on personal preferences and flight style :)
