You don't actually have to shoot down the "Mr. Big" turncoat offers. They're always clean, but you can still carry on with your original mission.
The only problem is that there is a bug. If you've encountered the "turncoat" offer AFTER you've killed some targets, the counter will be reset. If you encounter the "turncoat" first, THEN start killing what you were supposed to kill in the first place, everything's fine.
