If you've just now unlocked the module, try restarting the game and then rechecking.
Outfitting should display a blue triangle cluster (the icon for Guardian tech) next your available power capacity (the line where it says TOTAL POWER and then MAX __.__MW, like so: https://i.imgur.com/bq7wamg.png), which indicates the power increase.
Also try checking your ship's Modules panel to see if the available power has changed.
If that doesn't work, you might be experiencing a bug and should file a bug report on the forums.
