From Elite Dangerous Wiki

calm down kids. the FDL is a fighter the Python is multi purpose that is apparent however the Python posses more total firepower output. boasts a larger shield gen potential and has a larger capacitor to boot. they both have a mediocer at best jump range even with an A rated Drive without the assistance of engineers. They both have the same number of harpoints with 4 being ontop one on the bottom however the Python has better LoS for all its weapons while the FDL can manouver its poor LoS weapons with a skilled pilot essentialy making up for the drawback.

In total i consider them even on all counts except for one: the python is almost the same speed and outweighs the FDL creating a masslock factor. as well the python has FAR supperior Hull tanking potential. meaning that if the FDL does lose its shields and tries to run the python has it trapped. and in a fight with both having the shields down and two similarly skileld pilots my money is on the python.

I have owned and piloted both of them quite a large bit. as of late i just used my excess funds from helping my buddies in my conda to buy an FDL and im enjoying it. but the python in my book wins.

But the FAS is also on par with both those ships at costs 30 million less Cr. just some fed rank. a skilled FAS pilot can do laps around them both and even ram the bastards to death at 1/3 the cost.
