In my personal opinion I wouldn't really advise using a ship that has 'gunship' in its' name for mining. The Python, as mentioned above, is really good. Can land at outposts, only need the medium hard points for the larger mining lasers (leaving you three large hard points for defense), and has a respectable cargo capacity after retrofitting for mining.
