Nonsensical question. You have to accept that there is a lot of far fetched stuff in SF universes... There would be absolutely no point in having piloted spaceships so far in the future, man. Do you think it makes any sense for a guy to pilot a trading ship? Or risk his life in a fighter for that matter? Everything would be automated... Just accept it's a science-FICTION :-D
