I've just done 6k Ly's all of them (well 99%) using Neutron stars.
No issues, and I was in a weedy ASP Explorer that gets thrown about a bit.
Once hyperspace kicked off, zero throttle, tab out grab next Neutron star, rinse and repeat for 9-10 jumps then drop short of the next neutron star for fuel if nothing in the system. Rinse and repeat..
Just done my first (and possibly) last trip to Colonia in 3 years of playing the game.
My ASP does around 50Ly jumps and I navigate the highway with POI's to releive the bordom, around 2-2.5k LY's sessions.
I exclude almost all stars cept for the Neutrons and occiaisonal refueling star. Makes galaxu maps faster and less cluttered.
