I noticed, that the probability to find valuable planets (such as Waterworld and Earth-like) is higher in regions of the galaxy map, where those dark clouds are. I don't mean the nebulars! You see it in the map view if you zoom out and pan the view.
I'm not 100% sure about it, but there could be a relationship.
