I found this ship better than the Viper in combat. Stats wise it can outmaneuver the Viper, also the hardpoint location makes bringing your guns to bear that much easier.
It does have some major weaknesses not mentioned here though. For one, the canopy and engines are quite big and the huge area makes for easy subsystem targets. I have had my engines disabled and my canopy broken more on this ship than any other so far.
I would say keeping your shields up is important with this ship.
