From Elite Dangerous Wiki

While I wont disagree that him leaving wing during a fight where you obviously needed help was a little odd/rude, him destroying you after you returned from combat logging is not imo. It is entirely possible that he only ever intended on ganking you and it is also possible that when he dropped wing he started attacking you (and you didn't notice) thus explaining why you were dying so fast. Either way combat logging is an absolute disease that has spread all across this game and for anyone that enjoys pvp of any sort (ganking, griefing, pirating, bounty hunting or otherwise) it is extremely frustrating, borderline game breaking. If you want to play in open great! but if you go there not prepared for it to be dangerous (it's in the name Elite Dangerous) then you're just setting yourself up for this sort of thing. I'm sure I don't even need to mention it but NEVER fly without rebuy, I would say maybe you just forgot but since you mention that you told the guy you didn't have rebuy then this point is mute. There are many great things to be experienced in open mode in elite so I am by no means suggesting that you quit or go to solo/pg. I am simply trying to explain to you why so many ppl hate combat logging. If you need help building your ship to survive in open watch this guide by cmdr Rinzler o7o7o7. It has helped many ppl with similar experiences to yourself. There's so much more I could say but I will leave it here. o7 cmdr and safe travels
