H Jump bounties that you can pay off are only for low amounts. 1000 credits and up has a hard timer on it. Only way to get rid of those is to dock at a station owned by the faction that issued the bounty, then leave and commit suicide by security service. If you don't dock first though the bounty stays on you, it just goes dormant. You have to rebuy your suicidewinder at the station owned by the faction that wants you dead.
