Help:Linksearch

Search for external links

The Linksearch special page can find wiki pages that contain external links matching a URL or domain pattern. It is useful when a website changes address, a source becomes unavailable, or you need to review where a particular external host is cited. Open Linksearch from the special-pages list if available, then enter the URL or domain using the form shown there.

Search carefully

Results depend on the exact URL stored in the wikitext. Search for the domain first, then narrower paths if needed. A page title in a URL may use underscores instead of spaces. Differences in capitalization, query strings, URL encoding, redirects or alternate hostnames can affect matches. The special page may offer namespace or limit controls; use them to narrow a large result set. Availability and options can vary by version and configuration.

Review each result

Open the page and verify the link in context before changing it. A matching URL may be quoted text or a reference, and not every result needs replacement. Linksearch reports stored links; it does not decide whether a source is reliable or whether the page still supports its claim. For internal incoming links, see Help:What links here.
