This is a cinematic about the Thargoids, the Guardians and the recent happenings in the HIP 22460 system.

The Thargoids and the Guardians are intelligent alien species in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey. The guardians went extinct about 2 million years ago, but the remains of their civilisation can still be found today. The Thargoids are an insectoid species and have been around for millions of years.

Recently, the mysterious scientist ‘Salvation’ attempted to exterminate the Thargoids with a superweapon; The Proteus Wave. This weapon was constructed using Guardian technology. The Proteus Wave fired successfully. However, the first pulse emitted by the weapon was soon followed by a second pulse that deactivated all human spaceships in the HIP 22460 system, leading to a quick Thargoid victory.
