Template documentation provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Explain actual behaviour
Describe the purpose, supported parameters, defaults and expected output of a local template. Include minimal working examples, then optional fields and common errors. State any required modules, extensions or companion templates that are genuinely present here.
Keep documentation separate
Use a documentation subpage when appropriate. Wrap material intended only for the template page in noinclude; use includeonly for material intended only for pages transcluding it. Check categories so documentation does not categorise unrelated articles.
Imported templates
Replace external project instructions with accurate local guidance. A template imported for compatibility does not establish another site's policies, permissions or noticeboards. Test changes on representative pages and avoid changing widely used parameters without assessing callers. See Project:Template index and Project:Substitution.
