Redirect provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Local redirects
A redirect sends an alternative title to the appropriate local page. Start it with #REDIRECT [[Target page]]. Use redirects for former names, common alternative names and useful spelling variants. Link to a section only when the anchor exists and describes the redirected subject.
Check the destination
The target should exist. Avoid redirect loops, long chains and misleading destinations. After a move or merge, update double redirects and links whose context would otherwise become confusing. Classification templates are optional descriptions; they do not create a redirect.
Disputes and removal
Discuss a contested destination or a potentially useful redirect before deleting it. A redirect to a broad but unrelated page does not resolve missing content. See Project:Redirects for discussion and Project:Deletion policy.
