Andromeda, also known as M31 or NGC 224,^[1] is a spiral galaxy approximately 2.6 million light-years away from the Milky Way.^[2] It is visible from most Milky Way systems. Observations made in 2006 by the Spitzer Space Telescope revealed that Andromeda contains an estimated one trillion stars.^[1]
