Andromeda, also known as M31 or NGC 224,[1] is a spiral galaxy approximately 2.6 million light-years away from the Milky Way.[2] It is visible from most Milky Way systems. Observations made in 2006 by the Spitzer Space Telescope revealed that Andromeda contains an estimated one trillion stars.[1]
