I'd like to point out that FAS is virtually indestructible. Vulture has good shields, but once they're down you need to flee (canopy break very quickly). FAS has worse shields, but it's a tank. Shields down? No problem, just keep killing stuff, you hull can take it.

It's also a very good rammer: 4 pips to shields and boost into pretty much anything (not asteroids, those evil things can kill anything ...).
