Before creating an article, search for the subject, common aliases and relevant lists. An addition to an existing page may serve readers better than a separate article. Apply Project:Notability, and use Project:Squadrons for player organisations.

Prepare the article

Choose an accurate title under Project:Article titles. Start with a sentence identifying the subject and its relevance to Elite Dangerous. Add sourced facts under descriptive headings. Distinguish current gameplay, historical versions, lore and speculation. Do not copy promotional material or write invented lore as fact.

You can prepare the text as a user-space draft. For a new article, search for its intended title and use the creation option if your account has permission. An unavailable editing control may reflect protection or account permissions; do not evade it.

Before saving

Add references, useful links and appropriate categories. Preview the page and check templates, images and citations. Give an edit summary explaining the new page. A short but useful article is better than an empty heading list.

After publication

Check the rendered article and discuss questions on its talk page. If it duplicates an existing topic, consider merging or redirecting under local guidance. Contributors can improve the article after you save it.
