It's extremely rare that you'll ever be in a situation you cannot simply outrun your enemy even in a Python.  It's a medium sized ship, reasonably fast for its size, has more firepower and defenses, and simply more capacity to hold cargo.  It's hands down the better trader, as the duration of time between buying/selling (profit intervals) is identical.  In these situations, the greater access to more outposts and higher cargo makes it objectively the more profitable ship.
