Due to cargo hold, price, and size, the Python and Clipper are often pitted against each other in the trading role. The Python boasts greater firepower and defensive capabilities, but its low turn rate means that it is not so effective at dodging interdictions (even the interdictions of larger vessels), and its low straight-line speed makes it difficult to outrun attackers. The Clipper is less survivable in situations when it is forced into combat, but it is far better than the Python at evading interdictions and blazing past any ship that may actually pose a threat with its straight-line speed. In my book, the Clipper ultimately wins out in the trading role over even the Python.
