Splitting provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Define the new scope
Split an article when distinct subjects or an unwieldy section would be clearer as separate pages. Propose meaningful titles and describe what remains in the parent article. Discuss substantial or contested restructuring on the talk page.
Keep context and history
Leave a useful summary and link in the original article. When copying material, identify the source page and revision or history in the edit summary. Preserve citations, relevant categories and attribution. Do not create several near-identical pages or split solely to isolate one side of a dispute.
Check the result
Check navigation, section links, templates and references after saving. Remove resolved split notices and record the outcome. See Project:Article titles, Project:Consensus and Project:Copyrights.
