The Courier isn't a dedicated combat ship either, yet the description clearly states that it is part of the Imperial Navy. "Officially the class is used to provide transport for officials that don't warrant the use of a Cutter or Interdictor. However its flexibility means that it fills many roles within the Imperial Navy"
I never said the Cutter is going to be a pure trader, but, as I mentioned before, it is a multipurpose ship that has excellent trading capabilities. That is a fact based on the actual stats of the ship and not on an ingame description, which may be outdated and/or inaccurate. I have also mentioned earlier that it has the best shields, high damage, decent hardpointplacement and it would be far better than the Corvette if not for the manoeuvrability. So it is a good combat ship as well and may obviously be used as such in the Imperial Navy.
You may close your eyes to ship stats and judge them solely based on their ingame description, but don't be suprised if you end up disappointed.
I know, everyone has certain expectations. I was expecting it to be more of a multipurpose ship, since all of the previous Imperial ships have been performing that role very well. And that's exatly what it is. However with the Clipper being the "smaller brother" i certainly didn't expect it to have the best shields and was suprised to see most of the hardpoints being useful. So it turned out better than I thought.
But either way, I feel like this argument is pointless. As you said in your second comment below your main comment: If you don't like it you can still use it for trading.
P.S. Why would you comment your own comment?
