Relatable. Yeah, I never particularly liked the Adder. Odd looking, and an all-rounder that feels pretty meh at everything. The next more expensive all-rounder, the Cobra Mk III is excellent. Fast, good internals, more weapons.

For an upgrade to the Sidewinder for combat, I'd go with the Eagle. It's super agile and has good shields for its size. Still one of my favourite ships for the moment to moment flying experience.

For a trading upgrade to the Sidewinder, a Hauler is a good option. Cheap, good jump range, and a better cargo capacity than a Sidewinder. Good for trading rare commodities, until you can replace it with a trade fitted Cobra or a Type-6 Transporter.
