Laser mining is obsolete now... all you need is an abrasion blaster and a couple seismic launchers. No need for a mining ship larger than a Python, either, as it can pretty much fill its hold with void opals with two seismic charge launchers equipped, and its superior speed and maneuverability over large ships allow it to find and crack asteroids easier.
