yeah, you would actually. don't be stupid. if you got a fine in new york city, you'd have to pay it off remotely, but the money would go to another state,, i just looked it up, and your money would be going to washington DC, regardless of what state you commited a crime, so really this feature is closer to realism as you think. and ofcourse, paying it remotely wouldnt make for interesting game oppurtunities, or punish the player for doing something stupid. you had your guns out, but wasnt meant to be shooting? thats a you problem.
if you walked outside with your gun out, and shot a child, would you claim "oh i accidently pulled the trigger, i dont deserve to be arrested, this is stupid" would you? because that's what you did. shot at someone for no reason, and giving the story you've given me, you had no reason to have your hardpoints out, so the only person literally at fault is you the only shit that's dumb is you.
