First of all if you don't play in open you aren't playing the game. Second I had something similar happen to me when I first started and it just drove me more to get a better ship so I could get revenge on this guy and blow him to shreds. In other words don't let one griefer/ganker ruin the whole game for you or you will miss out on a lot.
