The fuel tank really is the weak point of the Clipper. 60ly seems even a little too optimistic. I've run some ~40ly trade routes and fuel was already very low after those trips. I'd say it's more around 45-50ly. For longer trade routes you should equip at least a class 3 (I'd rather go with a class 4) fuel scoop, sacrificing some of your cargo hold.
