Because the optimal hull mass of a class 6 shield generator is greater than the actual hull mass of the Clipper, changing from a class 6 to a class 7 shield won't make much of a difference, if any at all. A shield generator's strength is determined by rating, not class. This has been exhaustively proven.
Don't waste credits (and a ridiculous amount of power, for that matter) on a class 7 shield generator for the Clipper -- keep your class 6 shield and use a class 6 shield cell bank of comparable rating if you're taking it into combat. Class 7 cargo racks are the only reason the class 7 module slot exists on the Clipper.
