there are errand boys they're hiring. you. me. its your typical mmo have-to-do-this-before-you-can proceed. and its not really a time waster, lets be honest. its a requirement to unlock a completely OPTIONAL engineer for the game. and if you're not a scrub, you'd have a 40+ LY jump ship with a small enough cargo rack. i did mine from fujin spaceport - broo in 2 jumps, and at the time i could buy 10 units of tea, so it only took me 30 minutes to do... if that i'd be more inclined to say 25mins.
for the engineer responsible for grade 5 lasers?
time waster? the only time waster here was reading your comment because you're some lazy, casual, console gamer that has never ever played an mmo in their entire life then moans that it's too grindy. go back to witcher. go back to horizon zero dawn where the game holds your hand because it thinks you're too stupid to be able to do anything yourself. and it'd be right.
complaining about spending 25 mins for the complete end game in terms of uppgrades for your lasers, well... and if you couldnt do that 100 LY in two jumps - you shouldnt really be at this portion of this game because you're too new to this game to even be able to be here... but hey, choice progression system, here we are, we got a noob who cant do a 40-50LY jump in a single jump complaining about busy work... busy work... in AN MMO. lol if you want to see real pointless boring grinds literally play any other MMO other than this 1. literally any 1. pick any. this game the devs give you everything you need within the first week. within a month you'd have a fully kitted conda/corvette or god forbid a no skill FDL with most of the engineers unlocked, ready for pvp. try playing WoW fresh from start and see if you're anywhere near ready for high end PVP
