In you're case LogicMage, I'd go with the class 2 for the extra cargo.  The only advantage of having the extra bins is so you don't have to dump partially filled bins if you pick up a different mineral type, so the question is how likely is it you're going to pick up more than 6 types of minerals? If it's not likely, then stick with the size 2 and get the extra 12 cargo.  Also remember you can fill up the refinery bins and use them as impromptu cargo slots on the return.  Just sell off what you have in your cargo, then collect whatever is full in your refinery and dump that into you hold then sell that as well.  Cheap way to increase your cargo capacity by 6 for mining.

As a pirate, the interdictor forces me to use up a internal compartment slot, which means I'm sacrificing cargo capacity.  So I have a very vested interest in using a smaller interdictor over a larger one if I can get away with it, and outside of increased range, which I consider more of a luxury than a neccessity, I don't really see a need.  Is there a limit to the size of the ship you can interdict depending on the size of the FSDI you instal?  There just doesn't seem to be a lot of hard and fast known facts about this module.
