Maybe they did not have access to Thargoid technology?
Their interplanetary travel is fast as in ED though..
Anyway, FSD is really fast between systems, because it is needed for online gameplay.
I personally would have enjoyed, if the hyperdrive travel effect would have lasted even longer..
