I'm starting to think this might make a really good mining ship, especially as a step up from a Type-6.
Consider:
- More internal compartment capacity than a T6; can hold twice the cargo while still holding my preferred loadout of a class 4 refinery, class 5 collector limpet controller, and class 1 prospector limpet controller.
- Medium hardpoints instead of the T6's small.
- A power coupling that can support firing mining lasers continuously.
- Fits on a medium pad, so docking at outposts is still possible.
Neither of the larger freighters looks as good; the T7 has more hardpoints but the same power coupling as the T6, making those extra hardpoints useless for mining lasers; and the T9 is impractically large and costs five times as much (not to mention being a magnet for pirates.)
This is all theory right now, as I don't have the required rank yet, but it looks good on paper.
